The bird dog is an exercise that strengthens the lower back.

Step 1 - Start on Your Hands and Knees

Start on your hands and knees with your toes on the ground.

Lift_the_opposite_arm_and_leg46

Step 2 - Lift the Opposite Arm and Leg

Lift and straighten one opposite arm and the opposite leg off the mat while tightening your abs. Your extended arm and leg and body should make a straight line. Hold for 5-10 seconds.

Return_to_the_starting_position47

Step 3 - Return to the Starting Position

Lower your arm and leg to the mat and return to the start position.

Repeat54

Step 4 - Repeat

Repeat 5-10 times and switch sides
